Home Inspection in Portland |
Lead Based Paint
In 2010, new rules came out to regulate contractors working on older homes that may contain lead-based paint. Read our latest Inspection Update that talks more about how these rules may come into play when repairs are negotiated as part of a real estate transaction.
Carbon Monoxide
Since April 2011, carbon monoxide detectors (CO) have been required in all new construction and remodeling that requires a building permit. In addition, most real estate transactions of one- and two-family dwellings, manufactured homes, and multifamily housing have required at least one working CO alarm before conveying fee title or transferring possession of a dwelling. Landlords are also required to provide properly functioning CO alarms for all dwelling units within a structure containing a CO source. More information about these rules can be found online at CO Program. Also, check out our Spring 2011 Information Packet below.
